Lil x's + o's of the ones you love...miss Kaede.Who better to share my film project with than my Film Friday group :) What is project love? Project love was born out of what i love to do...capturing those tiny lil moments (on film) that we sometimes take for granted and putting them on paper...lil bits and pieces of the ones you love, for the ones you love.
Each project love session includes an 8x10 collage like the one above. I can't tell you how much these lil sessions make my heart happy....me slowing down and enjoying all the love in front of me. Contax 645, Fuji 400h, Image Source

We had a little photo shoot fun this past 4th of July weekend. My nieces got to pick out their outfits and my sisters and I got to do a lil accessorizing. I treasure these days when they don't mind their crazy auntie ;) and her camera too much. Love you girls!! xo
Yes, I am longing for some fun, lazy summer days...but for now a summery image to get me by...sigh...:).
So I bought a Rollei, loaded it with some Kodak Tri-X bw film and shot a roll of my good friend, Marina..isn't she beautiful!!! I had no idea if it was working or not, but was thrilled to find at least one in focus, ha!...well there were a few more, but I'm sharing an in focus one and an equally gorgeous misfocused one :). We had fun with some Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji 400h too...shot on my Contax 645. Devoloped and scanned by Photovision. Enjoy your weekend everyone!! Don't forget to follow our circle and visit the talented Jessica Nelson of The Gaggle Photography next!
Beautiful Miss Toree is turning 15 next month! Happy early bday to you Toree, enjoy your big day :)!
I actually shot a full session with beautiful Miss Toree (for her upcoming 15th bday, yay!), but I snuck in one roll at the end of the shoot to send over to Photovision to have it developed and scanned for this month's Film Friday post. Mailed out on Saturday and had them in my inbox on Wednesday!!!! A nice lil surprise peak for me & Toree!! I highly recommend Photovision...they were super nice, courteous and need I say speedy ! Oh and Yes, I absolutely love what they sent back!! Contax 645, Portra 400. Don't forget to follow our circle and visit my friend Jayme Franklin of Jayme Franklin Photography next!
What you say? One roll sessions...what is that all about? Well they are just that, sessions where I shoot one roll of film of beautiful you! If you know me I love doing bday sessions of my nieces and nephews and they usually only have the patience for one roll and then they are DONE...however, most of my favorite images have come from these sessions! I find that they are their true crazy selves and I love that! This past fall, I also participated in a few one roll challenges (like the one pictured below) and guess what? Yep, loved those too. So I decided to offer these sessions to all of you! These are easy peasy too...you get to pick one of your favorite outfits for an on location shoot of your choice...when you're images are ready, I upload them to a gallery and drumroll please...you get all your digital images via email! Yep too easy right? Just use the contact link above to get more info. These are perfect lil sessions for birthday gifts, other milestones or that hubby of yours! Go take a look at a few of my pinterest boards for some inspiration: my "her" board and my "lil ones" board. I'll be posting some one roll sessions here soon!
And if you're looking for a full length family, high school senior, or portrait session, I can send you more info on those too :). Can't wait to meet you! xo, karyn
Shoot a roll of film and share on the last friday of the month...its called...film fridays! You can follow our entire group by clicking on the blog links in each post. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone's film adventures. Grab an old film camera and start shooting :). Don't forget to visit Hampshire Wedding Photographer, Jenny Owen's blog next :). I have a lot to share with you my friends and I will share more of my adventure with you soon, but for now here are a few images from Day 1 of my Film is Not Dead workshop, hosted by Jonathan Canlas on the North Shore of Oahu...yes, as I sit here in my office wrapped in a blanket, I want to go back! And if you don't know what FIND is all about, go check out what Jonathan Canlas has to say about it here. Yes, his passion is infectious :).
Thank you to Jonathan and our real couples, Austin & Katie, Ashley & Marshall and Raelayn & Bryson!! You guys are all awesome, mahalo. And this is how Day 1 shooting took place (after a full day of lecture material)...we got split up into three groups and each person in the group had approx 5-8 minutes to direct & pose them. Yes, I was nervously shaking and not sure how I actually got some shots off :)!! Such a terrifying, but awesome exercise and experience! Remember, this is just Day 1 folks...and just the beginning to my film filled 2013.
A very special thank you to my husband for making this trip possible. There were times when I thought I wouldn't be able to make it, but I think he knew far better than me how much I needed this. From my awesome FIND family to Jon's inspiration and passion, I am one lucky girl to have been able to experience it all. These past couple of years have been filled with a lot of ups and downs, and I love you Mr. Johnson for seeing me through it. xoxo

Okay, I know this is like cheating big time...but gonna be away from my computer for a while and wanted to make sure I got both my Film Friday and Project 52 posts up :)! 1. Shoot a roll of film and share on the last friday of the month...its called...film fridays! You can follow the entire group of us filmies by clicking on the blog links in each post. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone's film adventures. Grab an old film camera and start shooting :).
As film shooters do you ever get crazy when trying to decide if you want to shoot color or bw film? Well, that's me ALL DAY LONG...I always want to shoot both and I'm not one of those who can see whether a shot would look awesome in black and white at that particular moment or not...not to mention trying to juggle 2 cameras at once. So I've been playing around with b&w conversions on some of my color scans lately and really like vsco film's hp5- preset. What do you girls do to convert some of your color images to b&w? All images fuji 400h color scans converted with vsco film's hp5- preset, Contax 645. Don't forget to visit Hampshire Wedding Photographer, Jenny Owen's blog next :).
2. Week 48 Theme: Silver...Does b&w count?...sure it does...I think I'm doubly cheating now!! So for my Sunday Project 52 group, please follow Alison Crane's link next. Thank you girls for indulging in my madness! Have a wonderful week! Alison Crane's blog: Bay Area Photographer, Alison Crane.
Week 47 Theme: Chocolate...Thankful for spending the weekend with this motley crew...fun, but crazy photo shoot against my sister's chocolate brown garage doors. Just a little peek into their sassiness...I think I have a few more gray hairs after this one, ;).
