Bloom | Project 52 | Cheer

Week 52 Theme: Cheer. Although this image is not filled with what you would normally think cheer should suggest, I think that this time of year, reflection of our past year and the year to come fills me with tremendous cheer. Cheer for our past accomplishments and future goals. Therefore, I give you an image filled with cheerful reflection. I am sad this year's project is ending, but so grateful that I was able to be a part of it. Thank you ladies for filling my year with beautiful images! I feel great accomplishment, as I managed to not miss one single week! It was not easy, and sometimes my images were a stretch for the week's theme, but I made it! I've learned so much from each and every one of you!! Happy New Year to everyone...can't wait to see you all more on the forum! xoxo, Karyn Don't forget to see what Alison Crane is up to this week: Bay Area Photographer, Alison Crane.

Bloom | Project 52 | Chocolate

Week 47 Theme: Chocolate...Thankful for spending the weekend with this motley crew...fun, but crazy photo shoot against my sister's chocolate brown garage doors. Just a little peek into their sassiness...I think I have a few more gray hairs after this one, ;).

Bloom | Project 52 | Spooky

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! Week 44 Theme: Spooky...we don't really do the Halloween thing at our house anymore since the boys are older now. So spooky for me was a lil tough. But two images that come to mind for this week's theme are these two below. The first one because my nieces look like lil tiny ants with their stoic expressions and the second because double exposures in general kinda take on that effect on their own (accidental film double exposure). And then I went all the way back to my 2010 archives to wish everyone a happy halloween with the third image!! Have a safe one everyone!!

bloom | project 52 | stripes

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 13 theme: stripes / n 1.  A long narrow band distinguished, as by color or texture, from the surrounding material or surface.

So I've been meaning to do another selfie for my fb profile pic and did take one of me wearing some stripes, but I chickened out posting it today and decided to post a few more of Kayla from my NOLA trip. If you can't tell from the pics, she's wearing a pinstriped vest and hat and she's 1 billion times cuter than I am!!! So here's my version of stripes for this week's theme. If you're just dying to see my selfie stripe version, ha!, you can still check it out on my fb biz page...but first head on over to Jen Bruss, South Carolina Photographer 's  website to see what's stripey in her neighborhood.

bloom | project 52 | green

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 12 theme: green / adj 1. Of the color between blue and yellow in the spectrum; colored like grass or emeralds.

I hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day!! Yesterday my husband decided to move my whole office from one room to another, we did a little wine tasting, had a few sips of green beer and now looking forward to a nice dinner in Carmel tonight. Hopefully I get to pick up my camera again some time soon! So for today's post I thought that I'd try re-editing a few older images that I immediately thought of when prompted with "green"...my beautiful friend Alexys in a vintage green coat...and actually I don't think that I ever edited the image on the right, so technically that one is new :). Enough of my March shenanigan's (which btw, was one of the names of the wines that I tasted yesterday, ha!), I'm most likely going to be green with envy when I see what  Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer came up with this week!! Happy Sunday.

bloom | project 52 | extreme

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 11 theme: extreme / adj 1. Reaching a high or the highest degree; very great.

For the past few months my son has been preparing for a science olympiad competition with his middle school's team. One of his events was titled "mission possible" ...an extreme contraption consisting of a series of tasks triggered by each previous task. His coach and teammate, Alex have contributed an extreme amount of blood, sweat and tears into this project and I'm glad to report that they took third place in the event and both earned medals in all three of their events!!! It was a very long journey indeed, but I am extremely proud of them! Kyle's 7th grade team took fourth place overall and the 8th grade team took 1st place and will now be heading to the State competition!! Thank you to all the parents for making this competition such a fun success and good luck Team Blue!! Don't forget to read Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer's project 52's interpretation this week!!

bloom | project 52 | distressed

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 10 theme: distressed / adj 1. Suffering from anxiety, sorrow, or pain.

I'm actually in New Orleans this weekend, so a quick ipad snap from above Canal St of a somewhat distressed rooftop... Continue on over to Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer's post and see what's distressed in her neighborhood.

bloom | project 52 | related

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 9 theme: related / adj 1. Being connected; associated. 2. Connected by kinship, common origin, or marriage.

I had to cheat this week and use an older pic...not sure if I would've been able to make it to a computer this weekend. But here are a few girlies that are related...my nieces sharing a very cousingly moment. I think I've seen a pic like this of me and my sisters :). Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Continue on over to Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer's post.

bloom | project 52 | united

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 8 theme: united / adj 1. made into or caused to act as a single entity.

Most of my instagrams were pics of food this week! I guess I was hungry. So i thought I'd keep it going with my 52. I can't think of anything that is more united or in harmony than milk & oreos...it even says "milk's favorite cookie" on the package! My boys had fun with this one. My husband, on the other hand, didn't want to witness the impending mess. It was hard work for sure. So I had to reward myself with a few! I'm gonna go grab a few more and see what Jessica Nelson, Dayton, MD Photographer has waiting for us!

bloom | project 52 | pink

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 7 theme: pink / noun 1. a color varying from light crimson to pale reddish purple.

Well I don't know about you, but for me, February and pink conjures up everything relating to love and Valentine's Day. But to be honest, because my boys are older and we don't pass out sweet Valentine wishes at school anymore, we don't do much celebrating around here. And after trying to find anything, I mean anything pink in my house, there's no denying that my house is definitely a boy house! I think I need to girlie it up over here a bit...Have a good Valentine's Day everyone. Big hugs & kisses!! Now let's go see what's pink in Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer's neck of the woods.

Oh and I know that a lot of you are instagrammer's (I know that I'm addicted myself), but I thought I'd try out the camerabag app this week. These were done with the "instant" filter on my iphone, but they also have a desktop editing edition! If you haven't downloaded it yet, go check it out and have fun playing!!

bloom | project 52 | discovery

Sundays, The Bloom Forum, 16 talented ladies, 52 weeks, 52 themes, 16 different interpretations = one inspiring year! week 5 theme: discovery / noun  1. The act or process of discovering (discover: To notice or learn, especially by making an effort). This week my initial idea was to capture my son with his recently "discovered" unicycle. However, in the process I made a huge discovery myself...panning (a technique used to capture a moving object in motion) is not easy!! At first I was just going to take a quick pic of E with his unicycle, but early Saturday morning (obviously I needed more coffee) I googled panning and decided that I needed to capture him in motion. Over 1,200 clicks later...yes, that wasn't a typo...1,200+ shots later and a tired out lil pup (it's good for him, right)...I came up with this image.  Not perfect by any means, but a starting point for me. This is exactly why I love this project...it challenged me to actually try this! I'll be practicing this technique, with hopes of improving on my first attempt here, when my son starts running again. If anyone wants to try panning, I recommend watching this video...but first, go see what  Carrie Terrones, Las Vegas Photographer discovered this week. Happy Sunday!!
